Sean studied for his undergraduate degree at the University of York, before spending his Masters year on international exchange at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. After graduation, he joined the medicinal chemistry team at Vernalis Research, a leading biotechnology company in the field of fragment based drug design. After nearly nine years in industry, Sean returned to academia to undertake his PhD studies at Trinity College Dublin in the McGouran Group focusing on the design and synthesis of novel probes for active deubiquitinating enzymes. When not in the lab, Sean can be found pursuing his passion for travelling and long-distance running!
