Susie completed her BA (mod) in Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin in 2019, during which she carried out a 2 month project in the McGouran group. Her PhD project focuses on the synthesis and testing of modified peptides to inhibit the nucleotide excision repair (NER) pathway by blocking the assembly of NER core factors around DNA damage sites. Enhanced expression levels of these factors have been directly linked to chemical resistance to platinum chemotherapy.
