Ríona
Ríona completed her B.A. (Mod.) in Medicinal Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 2020. She carried out her final year project entitled “Searching for new guanidine-based kinase inhibitors” in the Rozas’ laboratory, TCD. Ríona completed her D.Phil. at the University of Oxford in 2024 with a focus on developing chemical probes to investigate the role of fatty acids in the heart, in the Russell (Department of Chemistry) and Heather (Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics) labs. Following her D.Phil., Ríona undertook a postdoctoral researcher role in the Department of Chemistry (University of Oxford), working on investigating the interactome of lipid metabolites and the outcomes of these interactions in the context of the heart. Ríona has now undertaken a postdoctoral fellowship in the McGouran lab. Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading and spending lots of time with her dogs.
